Short Term Specials:
To fill in gaps between rentals, we may at times be able to offer Short Term Specials. These may include unlimited kilometres or it may include a specific number of kms and in this case, any extra kms will be charged at € 0.35 per km.

Saturday
/ Sunday Pick Up and Drop Off:
Pick up and Drop off on a Saturday or Sunday is available. A fee
of € 95 applied
for each pick up and drop off on a Saturday and € 95 for Sunday. Depots are closed on Public Holidays.
Pick up and Drop Off Times:
Pick Up - Monday to Sunday: 10am to 5pm
Drop Off - Monday to Sunday: 9am to 2pm
Free vehicle parking at the depot subject to availability of space - No Transfer from Airport to depot:
Keflavik Airport - 4 km
Late & Early Drop Offs:
If the vehicle is returned after the time that was agreed in writing,
we charge € 45 for every extra hour or part of an hour and pass on any claims for compensation
for damages that may be asserted by the next renter or another person due to
a late receipt of the vehicle. If the vehicle is returned before the
expiration of the agreed rental period - there is no refund for unused days
unless the vehicle can be rented to another party.
Drivers
Age and Licence:
Minimum age is 21 years old and must have held a full licence for a minimum of 1 year. For the Family Luxury, Premium and vehicles over 3.5tonnes, drivers must be 25 years old and held a full licence, for a minimum of 3 years. For all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, you are required to hold a licence that allows you to drive a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes. Please check vehicle weight and your licence.
Additional Drivers:
No Fee. Maximum of 2 drivers per vehicle.
Security deposit / Refundable bond:
You are required to leave a security deposit at the time of pick up (Excess amount EUR 2,800) - alternatively take out CDW at EUR 16 per day & reduce the Excess/Bond to Euro 1,500 per incident. / CDW at EUR 23 per day reduces the excess to EUR 900 / CDW at EUR 28 per day reduces the excess to EUR 400.
Liability and Comprehensive Insurance Protection:
The renter bears the costs of any damage that occurs during the rental period while using the vehicle in accordance with the contract up to EUR 2,800 per damage.
If the damage is caused by intent or gross negligence, especially if the renter was unable to drive due to the consumption of drugs or alcohol, the liability limitation does not apply. The same applies to any damage caused by not observing traffic sign 265 (maximum vehicle height on a road). Despite the agreed limitation of liability, the renter is moreover fully liable for any damage caused by failure to observe the vehicle dimensions (vehicle height and width), by improper loading and unloading and by the load or by driving backwards without being directed.
The renter is liable for any damages claimed by a third party against him/her or against McRent that the renter has caused to a third party during the use of the object of rental. The renter is liable for all fees, levies, fines, and punishments that are imposed on the lessor in connection with the use of the vehicle unless they are caused by fault of the lessor.
Vehicle Return:
Vehicle must be returned clean or a cleaning fee of EUR 220 will apply. If toilet is not emptied a fee of EUR 180 will apply
Authorised Drivers:
The vehicle may only be driven by the renter himself/herself and by the drivers
specified in the rental contract.
Substitute Vehicle:
In case the reserved vehicle cannot be made available at the rental station,
the lessor reserves the right to provide a vehicle that is comparable in
size and equipment or bigger. That will not cause any additional rental costs
for the renter. If a smaller vehicle is offered and accepted by the renter,
the price difference of both vehicles is reimbursed. If the provision of
a bigger vehicle causes higher ancillary costs, such as ferry charges and
tolls or operating costs, such costs are to be borne by the renter.
Restricted Travel Roads:
There are forbidden streets in Iceland. Driving on all roads with the marking F is prohibited. F stands for Fjallvegur, which means mountain road.
Road 35 should not be used into the highlands. Similarly 550 should not be used by motor-homes (you need a jeep basically for the whole interior of the country).
The client will get a good safety sheet at pick up where they get explained exactly where they aren't allowed to drive.
Pets:
Dogs are not allowed in the vehicles.

Shortening of Rental Period:
If a renter shortens their hire period by more than a week - it may be treated as a cancellation of the whole booking and a re-booking. This depends on when the amendment takes place and how many days of hire are being cancelled. Please ensure you always have travel insurance in place.
