Q. What is the minimum
age for rental:
A. 21 years is the minimum rental
age with a valid drivers licence issued by your own country.
This must be valid until at least one day after you hand
back the vehicle.
Q.How many drivers
are included:
A. One
driver is included in the rental. For additional drivers
CAD$5 is charged per night per additional driver. No coverage
applies if an unauthorised driver is involved in an accident.
Q.When are the
depots open:
A. Oct
1 - April 30: Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. /
May 1 - Sept 30: Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday
pick up / drop off may be available on request. A fee of CAD
$375 would apply.
Pick up takes place between 1300 – 1600hrs
/ Drop off takes place between 0800 – 1000 hrs
Q. Minimum rental:
A. 7 days is the minimum between
the months of April to September. 5 days is the minimum for
the rest of the year.
Q. Do I need to
leave a security deposit:
A. You
do need to leave a security deposit of CAD $750 (CAD$1250 for
drivers aged 21 – 24.) From the 1st of April 2010 the
security deposit required for drivers aged 21 -24 will increase
to CAD$1500.
You must use a credit card for the deposit and it will be charged
with a full refund given when you return the vehicle in a clean
and undamaged state. An open credit card authorisation is also
taken on departure to cover incidentals.
Q. Can I bring my
pets:
A. Sorry
but no pets are allowed.
Q. Can I tow anything
or store things on the roof:
A. No.
The Motorhomes are not equipped for towing or for carrying
things on the roof.
Q. What papers
do I need when picking up the vehicle:
A. A valid drivers licence and
passport (or ID card for US clients) are required when picking
up the RV.
Q. Do I need an
International Drivers licence:
A. No.
However, if your licence is not in English you may like to
consider getting one for ease of use in the US and Canada.
Q. Are
Taxes Included:
A. Yes,
taxes are automatically added to your booking.
Q. How much are extra kilometers
if I go over the amount I have paid for:
A. Extra kilometers are charged
at $0.31 per km. This will increase to $0.33 per km after the
28 March 2010.
Q. What type of
mileage could I expect:
A. This will obviously depend
on a variety of conditions (such as speed, wind, load, hills
etc.) but you could expect to achieve around 25 litres for
every 100 kilometers.
Q. Can I take the
vehicle into the US:
A. Yes. Unless it has been included
at no cost in your rental, CAD$10 is charged per night that
you spend in the US. This charged when you return the vehicle.
If you are traveling on documents other than those of a Canadian
or US citizen you will be required to purchase entry documents
at CAD$6 (valid for multiple entries.) You must also be photographed
and have your laser finger print taken.
Please note that fresh meat, vegetables and fruits are not
allowed across the border.
Q. Can I leave my
suitcase at the depot:
A. Yes. If you are picking up
and dropping off at the same depot, then you can unpack your
suitcases and leave the suitcase in storage at the depot. No
charge applies to this service.
Q.How many people
can travel in each Motorhome:
A. This depends on how many seatbelts
are in the vehicle. Canadian regulations stipulate that a seatbelt
must be provided for each passenger and as such the number
of people allowed in the Motorhome will depend on the size
of the Motorhome you rent.
Q. Does the vehicle
have a radio / CD player:
A. Yes, every Motorhome comes
equipped with a dash mounted radio / CD player. If you wish
to play a portable MP3 player then you must bring along an
FM adapter.
Q. What do I do
if we breakdown:
A. Canadream provides 24 hour
toll free emergency assistance in the unlikely event of breakdown
or accident.
Q. Are child seats
available to rent:
A. Baby seats, child seats and
booster seats are all available to rent. During peak season
these may be in short supply so book ahead.
Q. Do you rent bicycles:
A. No but we are happy to suggest
bike rental companies who will. (They will not allow rental
though for one way journeys.)
Q. What is included
in the Preparation fee:
A. Transfers to and from the airport,
and airport area hotels. The first supply of propane and toilet
chemicals.
Q. What is included
in the Convenience kits:
A. For a full list of inclusions
please refer to the table on the previous page.
Q. What is included
in the daily rates:
A. 100kms/night.
$5 million liability insurance and collision insurance with
deductibles as specified.
Preparation fee.
Q. Are one way rentals
permitted:
A. Yes. CAD$750 applies to all
one ways unless it is included in your rental.
Q. We intend to
visit Yukon/Whitehorse, do any additional charges apply:
A. A surcharge of CAD$500 applies
if you commence your rental from Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary,
Toronto, Montreal or Halifax
with permission to travel on/in:
If you pick up in Whitehorse you are automatically granted
permission to travel into these areas with the exception of
the Denali and Dalton Hwys in Alaska and the North Canol Hwy
in the Yukon. If you wish to travel into the North you must
request this at the time of reservation. If you do not you
are subject to a CAD$900 penalty and the insurance will be
voided.
Q. Do I get refunded
for any unused kilometers:
A. No unfortunately any unused
kms are forfeit with no refund.
Q. Can I smoke in
the Motorhome:
A. All
Canadream Motorhomes are smoke free – cleaning charges
of approx CAD$500 will apply if you choose to smoke.
Q. Is the Motorhome
provided with Fuel:
A. The
tank will be at least ¼ full.
If the vehicle is returned with less than this amount of fuel
you will be charged
for that amount.
Q. What is the process
when picking up the vehicle:
A. You must call the depot on
the morning of your pick up to schedule your appointment time.
If you do not you may experience delays.
Generally the handover takes between 1-2 hours.
Q. What is the process
when dropping off the vehicle:
A. The
drop off will generally take ½ an hour. Holding
tanks (gray and black water) must be emptied prior to returning
the vehicle. Propane tanks must be returned empty and at least
a ¼ tank of fuel in the vehicle. Please sweep out the
Motorhome and ensure that the surfaces are wiped clean and
the stove is wiped down and free of grease etc.
Q. Insurance
coverage:
A. All Canadream vehicles come
with $5 million public liability and property damage insurance.
The vehicles have CAD$750
as the minimum deductible for collision and comprehensive.
This amount is required as a deposit, refundable upon return
of the vehicle in the same condition as it was received.
Insurance does not cover loss of personal property, accommodation,
transportation or replacement of the vehicle if it is stolen
or in an accident that makes the vehicle inoperable.
In the event of an accident you must report it immediately
to the depot and get a written accident report / police file
number. If these conditions are not met you will assume all
responsibility for damages.
Guests will be covered in the event of a mechanical breakdown
that requires more than 48 hours for repair (radio, air conditioning,
slide out, refrigerator, microwave, appliances and cruise control
are not considered to be mechanical breakdowns). Guests assume
full responsibility for damage to tires and undercarriage.
Oil, tire pressure and coolant must be checked at each refueling.
Costs for oil will be refunded upon presentation of receipts.
The company's responsibility is limited to the refund of the
daily gross rate, or portion thereof, if the breakdown repair
is longer than 48 hours. A limit of $3,000 per vehicle per
group applies. This benefit is not valid in the case of an
accident or stolen vehicle.
Please note the following:
Two-vehicle accident on a signed and numbered road, fire, theft
or vandalism (with police and accident report): $750 ($1,250
for drivers 21-24 yrs old). The deductible for drivers
21-24 yrs old will increase to $1,500 for pickups on or after
1 April 2010.
There is no insurance coverage and guest will be responsible
for all damages if the vehicle is driven to an unauthorized
area without approval. These areas include logging and
non public roads, travel to Mexico, the Alaska Highway
north
of Fort St. John, the 'No-Go' areas of the Dalton and Denali
(north
of Fairbanks) Highways in Alaska and the North Canol Highway
in the Yukon, Cassiar Highway (#37) north of Kitwanga BC,
Highway 35 north of Peace River, Quebec & Labrador north and east
of Sept-Iles PQ and all roads in the Yukon, Northwest Territories,
Nunavut, Labrador and Newfoundland. CanaDream reserves the
right to restrict driving access at anytime. These restrictions
may be applied at the time of pick-up. There is a $900 penalty
for unauthorized driving in these areas.
In addition, note that parking of your vehicle is prohibited
in the greater metropolitan area of Montreal and Ottawa;
this includes all pay parking lots, hotel parking lots,
side streets,
malls, etc. In these areas, park your vehicle at a campsite
and use public transportation, taxi, etc. In the event
of a theft that occurs in the Montreal or Ottawa rea, the guest
is responsible for $7,500.
